Palaeoenvironmental changes
De complete verzorging van het boek voor Nina Bonis' proefschrift over de vegetatieverandering tijdens het Trias-Jura tijdperk.
The end of the Triassic (~230-200 myrs) is characterized by biotic turnovers in both the marine and the terrestrial realms; up to 80% of all living species may have become extinct. Unfortunately this extinction is the least studied of the five Phanerozoic mass extinctions because complete and well-dated sections are very limited. The plant fossil record is quite contradictory as palynological data from North America (Newark basin) suggested a major extinction event followed by a fern spike (e.g. Fowell et al., 1994) whereas European data, so far gathered, do not show such patterns.
